Edutainment

This is the section I'm most proud of — and the one that connects everything together.

My Master's thesis, "Video for All: An Argument Towards Standardization of Video Production Practices and Research" (KSU, 2021), explored how instructional video production techniques developed in academic settings could transfer directly into professional and digital marketing contexts.

This section is that theory in action: It features three distinct video pedagogy series where I developed and tested my approach to instructional video. Each series was built around the idea that the best educational content doesn't feel like a lesson. It feels like a story.

Alma Coffee Brew Guides

A tutorial series produced for Alma Coffee that brought instructional video theory into a brand context with its own distinct voice and guidelines. While staying true to Alma's aesthetic and audience, this series tested key elements of my thesis framework — proving that the theory could flex across different industries and content styles.

Decorating 101: YouTube Series

Ballard Designs' instructional video series and my most complete proof of concept to date. With roughly 250,000 views across 6 videos, this series served as a full-scale test of my thesis in a professional context — applying core principles of segmentation, non-scripting, duration, and multimodality to branded educational content in a way that drove real audience growth.

What is Rhetoric?

Where it all started. This original YouTube series of 4 videos represents the earliest iteration of my instructional video theory in practice — organic, student-focused, and built around the foundational concepts that would eventually become my Master's thesis. It's rough around the edges in the best way, and that's exactly the point.
